Hey whats up!
So Granton Marketing is gone and now its Smart Circle promotions or which ever. I remember the whole thing like it was yesterday when its all collapsed in on it self like a house of cards. Oh sweet drama!
I remember working in Oshawa and at the old location which Adam use to manage (use to be right where the new OSHAWA Generals arena is). When Terry the new manager made an announcement of how we would be moving to the Toronto office.
So all is fine and dandy. now i cant remember how this happened but please correct me if i am wrong on this. Adam moved back from BC and was now working with buddy that was the manager of Toronto office. I think he was there before my office got there. It was all suspicious as we had been accumulating all the local offices from the Greater Toronto Area in the main Toronto office. So it felt like a DS Max convention everyday lol. anyways it was like this for about 2 weeks then so strange guy come to the office and throws out this Pitch as if he were talking to a bunch of people that worked for Citi Group (<--- if you didn't know this group of people are 10x worse then dsmax IMO). He in all actuality was presenting this elaborate scratch and save business which is completely charity based (haha ya right). Anyways
to be continued...

Anyways, We listened through his speel. After my office got together and basically discussed how that was a stupid idea and it wasn't going to fly in our books so we never went back to Toronto but instead called Jay Rosenfeld and he and Matt Kelly basically came down right by the end of the week in total panic. so while this whole week we didn't have an office we were selling cards out of a trunk lol.
After a week or 2 of this trunk peddling we ended up by getting news that Paul Goudreau had gotten word of this. Apparently he was pretty pissed so he ended up by getting a plane ticket to Toronto and Leased us a office quite Promptly. So some of the people from the other offices that crumbled had heard of this which was a very small hand full and decided to join us.
Paul ended up doing a bunch of morning meeting basically instilling fear in us and how he would fire anyone if they so much as farted. it was funny because it kind of felt like "I Hate You All, JUICE?". Now being in that office for a couple weeks exhausting our best yearly product "Dagmar Ski" and some crappy "Good Year" oil change package we finally ended up getting our own spot complements of Paul G (It was a crappy office on top of a clearance division office in Oshawa).
So we ended up by getting a tour of Granton after settling in if i remember right and some time around they they changed their name to Smart Circle. Paul Goudreau Ended up by staying with us and retraining in our Oshawa office for another week or to then Matt Kelly came down and played some part. Eventually all the fuss had worn down and it was just us in this Oshawa office and the few people in the new Toronto office and that was all that was left in Canada.
I ended up by quitting about 2 or 3 months later and started up some other stuff up with some ofter people i knew. I eventually went back to check it out and they had then moved there office from Oshawa to Concorde and there were some other familiar faces there. I only stayed for a day or so because the Turf i got was all stupid. I said screw it and burnt like 7 areas i new were good and never went back lol. I think i even kept the money haha.
All in all as i reflect back on that moment in time i smile as it was one hell of a ride. For the most part all of what i said is exactly as it happened but it was like 5 years ago some area were a little foggy as per time line.
Anyways that's my story. Enjoy

I was in WWI (name was changed to DS MAX years later) in an office headed by Paul G back in NS. We were selling these horrid certs for a video store and a small Italian restaurant. I remember not being able to pay rent, so a bunch of us lived in apartments Paul rented. Paul G brought his kid brother on board, who hooked up with this hottie and took off in Paul's brand new Le Baron convertible. This was in 1990.
I lived with Tracey, my leader, and my buddy Xan. Tracey asked me one night if anything was bothering me and I told her about my doubts and feeling like I'm not cut out for this due to a sales slump. The next morning Paul calls me into his office and tears a strip off me for being "negative". I don't know how he dresses today, but back then he wore suits with those short bolero jackets and lots of bling hanging off like some Spanish pimp.
Anyways, a few weeks pass and Tracey asks me again if something is bothering me. I tell her, "No, I'm fine." Well, the next day Paul hauls me into his office and tells me that if I can't be communicative with my team leader, then the team leader cannot lead me. He then tells me I'm done and to pack my stuff out of the apartment by day's end. He also added, "If there's anything missing from that apartment that isn't yours you'll spend the rest of your life looking over your shoulder." LOL A class act all the way. Glad to hear he spends his days looking over his shoulder to see if the tax man cometh.
I think it speaks volumes that there is barely any internet presence to Paul Goudreau on social media or anywhere else on the net.

I did At&t Uverse Fort Worth tx almost 9 years ago. Learned a lot about sales and street smarts, lol, before that I had a stable job in a factory where we would make bread and wear hairnets, latex gloves and earplugs- the total opposite of in your face sales in 30 degree weather. I highrolled the office and made 3rd place in the entire southwest region multiple times on the top 10 list. Even though I was proud I had taken on some challenges nobody else has the guts to do I was miserable being gone 70 hrs a week only living on $200-400 after taxes and bullnuts taken from my d**n paycheck, gosh. Now I sell dish network and DIRECTV door to door in the countryside where it's very easy and comfortable. I work only about 30 hrs a week, make about 70k year and have 2 cars and plenty of free time, thank God! Swap stories with me, txt me anytime 817-938-4217 Everybody that worked for DS MAX is family to me, we all have something in common
